NORMAN, Okla. -- We asked, and you delivered in a big way!

As part of OU's Year of the Fan celebration, fans were invited to submit their favorite Sooner football memories for a chance to be immortalized on Oklahoma's 2010 season tickets.

The OU Athletics Department received hundreds of entries ranging from favorite players and championship games to personal memories and inspiring moments. Needless to say, selecting just six to appear on the tickets was no easy task.

"Throughout this project, it was amazing to read how much Sooner football means to our fans," said OU Director of Graphic Design Scott Matthews. "We tried to pick six memories that highlighted different eras of our program and also looked for submissions that told personal stories.

"The design was extremely challenging, taking something so personal and trying to visually represent that memory on a ticket. It was an honor to create something that means so much not only to these six individuals, but to the entire fan base they represent."

Six months after the process began in February, we are pleased to unveil this year's design. The tickets are pictured above. Below are the stories behind them.

  Ticket 1 | Utah State | September 4

Memory submitted by Erick Pineda (Ardmore, Okla.)
"My wife April, my daughter Macy and I attended the game against Middle Tennessee. It was game three on September 23, 2006 and Adrian Peterson was the starting tailback. Macy was three and had never uttered a word. My wife and I were concerned she might have a speech problem. After the BOOMER SOONER chant, Macy looked up at April and I and proudly said 'BOOMER!' She finally spoke... it just took some Sooner Magic!"

  Ticket 2 | Florida State | September 11

Memory submitted by Melvin Jones (Duncan, Okla.)
"On Nov. 28, 2009, a lot of strong, young athletes inspired and amazed us with their physical achievements. But, the most inspiring was when one young man [Corey Wilson] simply got up and walked to stand with his fellow seniors on Senior Day. That, to me, is what the discipline, courage and determination of college athletics is all about."

  Ticket 3 | Air Force | September 18

Memory submitted by Bill Ware (Tulsa, Okla.)
"I remember when the Pittsburgh Panthers came to town with future Heisman winner Tony Dorsett. He rushed the ball that day 12 times for 17 yards and left the game after Scott Hill put the fiercest tackle I had ever seen on Owen Field. The Sooners went on to roll 46-10."

  Ticket 4 | Iowa State | October 16

Memory submitted by Jayson Crowley (Pond Creek, Okla.)
"I was deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom in 2006 when Oklahoma made it to the Big 12 Championship game. I was leaving Iraq on a Thursday night and made it home Friday morning. I drove with my fiancé eight hours that night in a snowstorm to Kansas City to make it to the game on Saturday night against Nebraska. The temperature was 17 degrees that night but it was all worth it. I stayed and watched the entire game with my fiancé, even the trophy presentation. Oklahoma won 21-7."

  Ticket 5 | Colorado | October 30

Memory submitted by Vincie Morrison (Mustang, Okla.)
"My friend was able to get tickets to the 1985 OU-Nebraska game. The bad news was I was supposed to work that Saturday. Of course being a junior in high school I had to go to the game so I called in and told my boss I had to leave town for the weekend. Of course that game was the great tight end-reverse with Keith Jackson. It so happens, with the 77,000 people at the game my boss happens to see me and calls my dad. Of course I got into trouble, but my boss later admitted, 'Son, I would've called in that day too!'"

  Ticket 6 | Texas Tech | November 13

Memory submitted by Ken Clary (Nashville, Tenn.)
"I attended OU from the fall of 1954 through Dec. 1958, the real glory days at OU, Bud Wilkinson winning 47 straight games. I remember players like Tommy McDonald, Jerry Tubbs and others. A quote that has always stuck in my mind about Jerry Tubbs was one opponents' coach saying, 'Tubbs is too tough to be playing college football.' I find it odd when the commentators constantly talk about other coaches' records but never talk about Bud Wilkinson, who in my opinion has the greatest record of all."
