NORMAN, Okla. — Three former teammates from the Oklahoma Softball program have all recently accepted collegiate head coaching positions within the state.  Amber Flores (2007-10) has been named the head coach at Seminole State in Seminole, Okla., D.J. (Mathis) Sanchez (2006-09) at St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, Okla., and Jadyn Smith (2005-08) at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Okla.

A three-time All-American during her time in Norman, Flores heads to Seminole State after spending one year as an assistant coach at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y. Prior to the New York move, Flores served as head coach of the Intencity Travel Ball - USSSA Team out of Norman from 2009-2011. She is also a private hitting instructor and the director and owner of the Amber Flores Softball Camp.

The 2009 and 2010 Big 12 Player of the Year, Flores holds the OU career records for home runs (56), extra base hits (99), walks drawn (163), slugging percentage (.703) and on-base percentage (.524) while ranking second in runs scored (232), batting average (.369) and total bases (455).

A second-team All-American in 2008, Sanchez spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Kansas where she headed the Jayhawk pitching efforts. The second overall pick in the 2009 National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft by the Akron Racers, Sanchez left OU as one of the most decorated pitchers in school history. Sanchez currently ranks second on the OU career charts for winning percentage (.768) inside the pitching circle while ranking fourth in victories (76) and appearances (138).

A four-year letterwinner for the Oklahoma program, Smith most recently served as the pitching coach at Oklahoma Baptist University after spending two years as an assistant coach at her hometown high school, Newcastle High School. In addition to her coaching duties, Smith has held a pitching and skills clinic for 40 athletes a week for the last four years.
