NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma wrestling team will host Binghamton Sunday evening. The match, originally scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, has been pushed back to 5 p.m. CT in McCasland Field House, home of OU wrestling.
Sunday's match is OU's Military Appreciation Night. Each military branch in attendance will be recognized throughout the duration of the match.
In addition to Oklahoma's dual with Binghamton, the Sooners will host Young Sunday Night Lights Scramble - a one-time event for wrestlers who are looking to get involved in the sport, or just looking to get mat time. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. CT, with wrestling to follow from 2-3:30 p.m. CT.
The cost is $5 for all participants, and includes a ticket to Oklahoma's dual versus Binghamton.
All parents, family, friends and coaches must purchase a ticket to enter the event. Pricing is as follows: Adults ($8), Youth (6-18, $5), Senior Citizens (55+, $5) and children five and under are free. All tickets purchased include admission to Oklahoma's match.
The scramble is open to all youth wrestlers, eighth grade or below, in the novice division, divisions 1, 2, 3, 4, and five, who will be able to wrestle as little or as much as they please. Each match will be three, one-minute periods.
Pizza will be served to all those participating following the event at 4 p.m. CT.
Before competition begins, each wrestler will be weighed in and separated by divisions. Both athletes must be mat side prior to their match beginning. No matches will be held for missing athletes, with each match set by OU Coaches and staff.
Please note that this is not a tournament nor is it sanctioned by any governing body such as USA Oklahoma Wrestling or the Oklahoma Wrestling Association (OKWA). Therefore, there will be no awards, qualifications or points given for this event.
