Mike Baldwin of the Oklahoman: "Besides making on-target, bullet snaps, OU's center has added responsibility since the Sooners prefer to play up tempo.   Sunday, September 25

Coach Stoops announced that center Ben Habern will miss 6-8 weeks after breaking a radius bone in his right arm during the Sooners' 38-28 win over Missouri Saturday. Stoops said that it may be possible to review Habern for guard duty in 4-6 weeks.

Habern, who missed time in 2008 (medical redshirt) and 2009 with ankle injuries, had started 17 consecutive games, including all 14 last season, before suffering the injury in Saturday's game. Gabe Ikard, who moved from guard to center during the Missouri game, is expected to start in that position in Habern's absence.

  Friday, September 23

Following his two interception performance last week at Florida State, safety Javon Harris will have the privilege of wearing Austin Box's No. 12 Saturday against Missouri. Coach Stoops made the announcement today. QB Landry Jones and LB Travis Lewis contribute to the decision each week, as the number will continue to rotate among defensive players throughout the season.

WORT TO WEAR NO. 12
Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops announced Friday morning that linebacker Tom Wort will wear No. 12 against Tulsa on Saturday to honor the late Austin Box.

Stoops said that No. 12 will rotate among defensive players during the season. Earlier this week, he explained that quarterback Landry Jones, who wears No. 12 on offense, and linebacker Travis Lewis will play a significant role in the selection process.

Wort, a sophomore, normally wears No. 21. He is starting in the same position that Box played for the Sooners, middle linebacker.
