Six Sooners Go on Day 3 of NFL Draft

NORMAN — The 2026 NFL Draft concluded Saturday with six Sooners selected in the final four rounds, including three in the fourth round and three in the seventh.
 
Offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu became the first OU player ever drafted by the Houston Texans when they took him with the sixth pick of the fourth round (No. 106 overall), defensive lineman Gracen Halton was selected with the very next pick by the San Francisco 49ers and linebacker Kendal Daniels was the 34th pick of the fourth round (No. 134 overall) by the Atlanta Falcons. The seventh round saw safety Robert Spears-Jennings go to the Pittsburgh Steelers with the eighth pick (No. 224 overall), tight end Jaren Kanak to the Tennessee Titans with the next selection and wide receiver Deion Burks to the Indianapolis Colts with the 38th pick (No. 254 overall).
 
Nwaiwu became OU's 14th offensive lineman selected in the NFL Draft in offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh's 13 seasons with the Sooners. Nwaiwu also became OU's highest interior offensive line draft pick since Creed Humphrey (second round) in 2021.
 
Halton became the Sooners' highest-drafted defensive tackle since Neville Gallimore (third round) in 2020. Daniels and Spears-Jennings became the second OU linebacker and safety, respectively, drafted in two years (Danny Stutsman and Billy Bowman last year). Kanak is the just the Sooners' second tight end selected in the last eight years (first since Brayden Willis in 2022), while Burks was the program's first wide receiver pick since Marvin Mims (second round) in 2023.
 

QUICK OU DRAFT NOTES

• The six Sooners drafted on Saturday are the program's most in one day since 2005 when five OU players went on day 1 of the draft (rounds 1-3).
• Oklahoma's seven overall selections in this year's draft (defensive end R Mason Thomas was a second-round pick by Kansas City on Friday) are the program's most since 2022 when it also had seven.
• OU's seven 2026 picks tied for fourth most in the 16-team SEC.
• OU has now produced at least three NFL draftees 23 times in the last 24 years. Only LSU and Ohio State have produced three or more picks each of the last 24 drafts.
• The SEC's 87 selections this year set a record for a conference in a single NFL Draft, breaking the previous mark of 79 (which was also held by the SEC).

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN FEBECHI NWAIWU
4th Round, 6th Pick (No. 106 Overall) • Houston Texans

Nwaiwu was the only Oklahoma offensive player to start all 26 games over the last two seasons and the only offensive lineman to start all 13 games in 2025. A recipient of OU's 2025 Don Key Award (the program's highest annual honor), he was an All-SEC Second Team selection and one of three finalists for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is awarded to the nation's best football player who began his career as a walk-on.
 
In 2025, Nwaiwu, who is 6-4 and 319 pounds, allowed only two pressures and no sacks on 505 pass-blocking snaps and registered a 91.9 pass blocking grade, according to PFF. He played center for the first time in his collegiate career in his start in the 2025 regular season finale against LSU and again in OU's CFP first-round game against Alabama. He started all 13 contests at right guard in 2024 and was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in a win over No. 7 Alabama as the Sooners rushed for 257 yards.
 
Nwaiwu spent three seasons at North Texas (2021-23), before transferring to Oklahoma ahead of the 2024 campaign. He played in 10 games and made seven starts with the Mean Green in 2023 (each of the season's first seven games on right side of line) and missed two games due to injury. He was named a second-team freshman All-American by The Athletic and was a C-USA All-Freshman Team selection by league's coaches. He played in 14 games and made 12 starts as a redshirt freshman in 2022 and appeared in two games as a freshman in 2021.
 
The Coppell, Texas, product began his career as a walk-on at North Texas. He graduated from OU in May 2025 with a degree in multidisciplinary studies.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE GRACEN HALTON
4th Round, 7th Pick (No. 107 Overall) • San Francisco 49ers

Halton started 10 of his 47 career games at defensive tackle and totaled 84 tackles, including 17.5 for loss and 8.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 11 QB hurries. A 2025 team captain, he was a recipient of OU's Bob Kalsu Award, given annually to a member of the team who personifies Kalsu's spirit of leadership, serving as a motivator and role model for his teammates.
 
The 6-3, 293-pound Halton, who is from San Diego, Calif., played in all 13 games and made seven starts in 2025, registering career highs of 33 tackles (7.0 for loss and 3.5 sacks), two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups and a forced fumble to earn second-team All-SEC recognition from the Associated Press. He was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week after tying his career high with seven tackles, including 2.0 TFLs and 0.5 sack, and recording a QB hurry in OU's 17-6 win over Missouri. He scored a touchdown on a fumble return and notched three tackles (0.5 sack) and a hurry in a 44-0 victory against Kent State.
 
In 2024, Halton played in all 13 games and made three starts, and recorded 30 tackles, including 6.0 for loss and 5.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week after recording a career-high 2.0 TFLs (one sack) vs. Houston. He also notched a sack-fumble that resulted in a touchdown at LSU. Halton played in 11 games in 2023 and notched 11 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, and played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2022 and recorded 10 tackles (1.0 TFL).
 
Halton is a former four-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 19 defensive end nationally and the No. 18 prospect in California in the 2022 class. He is scheduled to graduate from OU with a degree in multidisciplinary studies this summer.

LINEBACKER KENDAL DANIELS
4th Round, 34th Pick (No. 134 Overall) • Atlanta Falcons

Daniels played at Oklahoma during the 2025 season after spending his first four seasons at Oklahoma State. He started 41 of 52 career games and totaled 293 tackles, including 33.5 for loss and 7.5 sacks, five interceptions, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 16 pass breakups and nine QB hurries. He started all 13 games in 2025 at OU's "Cheetah" position and registered 53 tackles (9.0 for loss), a fumble recovery, three pass breakups and two hurries for a College Football Playoff team. Daniels recorded at least four tackles in eight games and made a season-high seven tackles vs. Missouri and LSU each and tallied 2.5 TFLs vs. Michigan.
 
In 2024 at Oklahoma State, the 6-5, 254-pound Daniels played in all 12 games and made nine starts, recording 64 tackles (10.5 for loss and 5.5 sacks), seven pass breakups and three QB hurries. He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors in 2023 when he started all 14 games and ranked second in the Big 12 in fumble recoveries (two) and fifth in tackles (105). His 105 stops were a career high (included 5.5 TFLs and 2.0 sacks), and he added two interceptions, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup.
 
Daniels was named Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2022 and was selected to the College Football News Freshman All-America Third Team and All-Big 12 Second Team. That season, he played in 13 games and made five starts and totaled 71 tackles (6.5 for loss), three interceptions, a forced fumble and five pass breakups. He played in three games and redshirted during his first season at Oklahoma State in 2021.
 
A product of Beggs, Okla., Daniels is a former consensus four-star recruit who was rated as the No. 41 overall player in his class and the No. 1 player in Oklahoma by 247Sports. He graduated from Oklahoma State in May 2025 with a degree in university studies and is pursuing a second bachelor's degree at OU in organizational leadership. He was a member of the 2025 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and two-time member of Academic All-Big 12 Team (2022 and '24).

SAFETY ROBERT SPEARS-JENNINGS
7th Round, 8th Pick (No. 224 Overall) • Pittsburgh Steelers

Spears-Jennings played in 47 career games and made 25 starts over his four seasons in Norman. He totaled 178 tackles, including 8.0 for loss and 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and five pass breakups. He played in all 13 games and made 12 starts (each of the last 12 contests) in 2025 and registered 59 tackles (1.5 for loss), an interception, a fumble recovery and two pass breakups. He logged eight tackles and an interception he returned 37 yards at Tennessee and recorded a season-high 11 tackles (1.0 TFL) and a forced fumble vs. Ole Miss.
 
In 2024, Spears-Jennings played in all 13 games and started the final 11 contests, finishing with 66 tackles (5.0 for loss and 2.5 sacks), one interception, a team-high four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups. His four forced fumbles ranked eighth nationally. He set a career high with 13 tackles (one sack) and a forced fumble vs. Tennessee.
 
The 6-2, 205-pounder played in 12 games and made two starts in 2023, recording 38 tackles (one for loss) and a pass breakup. He tallied 24 of his tackles over the last five games and notched season highs of seven stops each vs. Oklahoma State and West Virginia. He played in the season's last nine games as a true freshman in 2022 and recorded 15 tackles (0.5 for loss), including five at West Virginia.
 
A product of Broken Arrow, Okla., Spears-Jennings is a former four-star prospect and consensus top-10 recruit in Oklahoma who was rated as the nation's No. 10 safety and No. 107 overall player in the country by ESPN. He graduated from OU in December 2025 with a degree in human relations and was a named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2024 and 2025.

TIGHT END JAREN KANAK
7th Round, 9th Pick (No. 225 Overall) • Tennessee Titans

Kanak played all four seasons at Oklahoma, spending his first three at linebacker before converting to tight end for his 2025 senior year. He played in 52 career games and made 23 starts. He started 10 of 39 games as a linebacker (2022-24) and all 13 games at tight end in 2025.
 
As a tight end, the 6-2, 224-pound Kanak made 44 receptions for 533 yards (12.1 yards per catch) with a long of 48 yards. He registered at least one catch in every game, at least three in nine games and at least four receptions six times, and recorded at least 50 receiving yards in five contests. Kanak was a 2025 All-SEC Third Team selection at tight end by the league's coaches. He made a career-high six catches for 54 yards vs. LSU and had five grabs for a career-high 90 yards in the season opener vs. Illinois (his first career collegiate game on offense).
 
As a linebacker, Kanak totaled 103 tackles, including 7.0 for loss and 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown), two pass breakups and seven QB hurries. In 2024, he played in all 13 games as a backup linebacker and on special teams and made one start at the "Cheetah" position, recording 17 tackles and a fumble recovery. He returned a fumbled punt 21 yards for a touchdown in the season opener vs. Temple.
 
He played in all 13 games and made nine starts in 2023, registering 35 tackles (6.0 for loss and 2.0 sacks), a forced fumble and two pass breakups. He also saw action in all 13 games as a freshman in 2022 and recorded 24 tackles (1.0 for loss), a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
 
A product of Hays, Kan., Kanak was a consensus four-star prospect and No. 1 recruit in Kansas and a top-125 prospect nationally who played linebacker and quarterback in high school. He was regarded as the nation's No. 5 athlete by 247Sports and the No. 10 linebacker by On3. Kanak graduated from OU in summer 2025 with a degree in communication and is pursuing a master's degree from OU in organizational leadership. He was named to the 2025 SEC Academic Honor Roll.

WIDE RECEIVER DEION BURKS
7th Round, 38th Pick (No. 254 Overall) • Indianapolis Colts

Burks started all 18 games in which he played over his two seasons at Oklahoma, compiling 88 receptions for 865 yards and seven touchdowns. A consistent and reliable pass-catcher, he made at least four receptions in 13 games as a Sooner and had multiple catches in all 18 contests. Over his last three college seasons (2023-25), he made at least four receptions in 17 of his 26 games.
 
Burks started all 13 games in 2025 and recorded 57 catches for 620 yards and four touchdowns. He ranked second on the team in receptions, yards and receiving TDs. He had 100-plus receiving yards in two games, including an OU-career-high 107 yards and a score on seven grabs in the CFP first round vs. Alabama. He also had 101 yards and a TD on seven catches in a win over Michigan.
 
A 5-10, 180-pounder from Inkster, Mich., Burks started all five games in which he played in 2024 and registered 31 receptions for 245 yards and three TDs (missed eight games due to injury). His 31 catches were the most ever by a player in the first five games of an OU career.
 
In his five collegiate seasons, which included three at Purdue before transferring to OU, Burks started 31 of 48 career games and recorded 151 receptions for 1,669 yards and 14 touchdowns. In 2023 at Purdue, he started all 12 games and led the team with 47 catches, 629 receiving yards and seven TD receptions, making at least four catches in eight games and earning second-team All-Big Ten honors. He played in all 14 games and made one start in 2022, notching seven receptions for 80 yards, and played in four games and redshirted during his first season at Purdue in 2021.
 
Burks was a former three-star recruit out of high school, according to 247Sports and Rivals. He graduated from OU in summer 2025 with a degree in multidisciplinary studies.
