Volleyball to Honor Javi Restrepo

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball program and marketing officials have announced a special promotion for the OU-Nebraska volleyball match on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The Sooners will honor Javier Restrepo as OU takes on Nebraska on ESPNU at 6 p.m. CT at McCasland Field House. The son of OU head coach Santiago Restrepo and his wife Heidi passed away on July 31, 2009, after a three-year battle with leukemia.

Pledge for a Cure

The first 1,500 fans receive a “Fight like a Champion” bracelet and those in attendance have two options to donate funds to the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center.

Head football coach Bob Stoops and women's basketball coach Sherri Coale will sign autographs at the match from 6:00-6:30 p.m. A minimum charitable donation of $10 is required and fans are allowed to bring one item per coach to be signed.

Fans will also have the opportunity to pledge a dollar amount for every ace, dig, kill and/or block OU accumulates during the match. A minimum donation of 50-cents per is encouraged. Pledge forms will be distributed at the door on the night of the event or can be printed ahead of time. Fans unable to attend the match may also contribute by printing the appropriate pledge form using the link above.
