Men's Tennis Unveils 2009 Fall Slate

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Programs and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione and head men's tennis coach John Roddick announced OU's 2009 fall schedule Wednesday.

OU enters the fall season led by senior Andrei Daescu, ranked No. 40 nationally in singles. Daescu teams with junior Ionut Beleleu to comprise the 39th-ranked doubles team in the country.

The Sooners begin the fall season Friday, Sept. 18-20, in Midland, Texas, at the Midland Invitational.

OU continues its tour of the state of Texas with a trip to Waco, Texas, for the Baylor Invitational Sept. 25-27.

Following back-to-back trips to the state of Texas the Sooners return inside state lines to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Tournament, in Tulsa. Prequalifying rounds begin Oct. 3-4 with qualifying rounds set for Oct. 5-7 and the Championship rounds Oct. 8-11.

After the All-American Tournament OU travels to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas Invitational Oct. 16-18.

The Sooners make a return trip to Tulsa for the ITA Central Regional Championships, Oct. 23-26. OU follows regional play with a trip to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Texas Invitational, Oct. 30-Nov. 1.

OU will complete its fall schedule Nov. 5-8 in New Haven, Conn., at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Yale.
