Friday's game was the fourth meeting in the series between Oklahoma and Louisiana State ... The Tigers have won the last two meetings in the series and own a 3-0-1 advantage ... The Sooners have not been shut out since Oct. 24, 2008 against Nebraska, spanning eight straight games ... The four goals allowed was a season high ... OU has surrendered seven goals in its two losses compared to three in the remaining five games where it owns a 4-0-1 record.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Oklahoma entered Friday's game at LSU looking to avenge last year's defeat in Norman to the Tigers. However, the Sooners (4-2-1) were unable to come from behind in a 4-0 defeat at the LSU Soccer Complex.

Melissa Clarke scored two goals and had an assist in the contest as LSU (3-1-1) held a 2-0 advantage after the first 45-minute session.

“You have to give credit to LSU, that is the best I have seen them play,” said OU Head Coach Nicole Nelson. “They did a good job of executing their game plan and we were not able to make the adjustments we needed until after the half. I thought we did a much better job in the second half. We created a lot of goal scoring chances but unfortunately didn't finish them."

Rachel Yepes gave the Tigers an early 1-0 lead after she found the back of the net in the seventh minute.

LSU increased its lead just before the half at the 37:25 mark on Clarke's goal, scored on a penalty kick.

Clarke netted her second goal in the 61st minute and the Tigers netted the fourth and final goal with six minutes left in the game.

LSU finished the contest with a 19-7 lead in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Dria Hampton led OU with three shots while Whitney Palmer and Ashley Farrand contributed two each.

Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Devonshire gave up four goals and made five saves for the Sooners.

"Our group showed a lot of character as they continued to fight after being down a couple goals," added Nelson. "We are looking forward to returning home and getting back to work and getting rest for some of our players that are not 100 percent healthy.”

OU returns to action next Friday, Sept. 18, at home against Lamar. The 7 p.m. game at the OU Soccer Complex is the start of a four-game home stand for the Sooners.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, OU will meet Southern California for the first time for a 1 p.m. showdown in Norman.
