NORMAN, Okla. -- Playing the most important position on the court is no simple task for a freshman. Yet Brianne Barker made it look so easy.

Now a sophomore, Barker has been Oklahoma's starting setter from the first day she arrived on campus.

The nation's top-ranked setter coming out of high school, Barker could have gone to one of the more traditional volleyball powerhouses. She chose OU because she wanted to make a difference on an up-and-coming program.

That she has, setting an OU rookie record with 1,035 assists a year ago on her way to earning All-Big 12 Freshman honors. With a year of experience under her belt, she has only gotten better... and so have the Sooners.
