OU's 12-point victory was it's largest in a Big 12 contest since beating Texas Tech 75-61 on Feb. 3, 2007.
Freshman Tony Neysmith picked up the first start of his career. Neysmith had not played more than a minute in any conference game. The Norcross, Ga., native finished with a career-high four points and recorded career highs in field-goal attempts (3) and field goals (2).
Entering the game at the 14:43 mark of the first half, Longar Longar returned to action after missing the previous two games with a broken bone in his lower right leg. The senior finished with six points and five rebounds in 27 minutes of action.
OU improved to 107-77 all-time against the Cyclones and 59-21 in games played in Norman. Oklahoma has won nine of the last 13 contests between the two squads and the last six played at Lloyd Noble Center.
Oklahoma went to the line 18 more times than the Cyclones (29-to-11), after recording 18 less attempts from the charity stripe in its previous contest at Colorado (11-to-29).
With the game tied 6-6 at the 15:04 mark of the first half, the Sooners went on a 16-3 run over the next 5:06, capped off by an Austin Johnson 3-point bucket at the 9:58 mark, to lead 22-9.
Oklahoma scored 20 points off of 12 ISU turnovers.
The Sooners recorded 12 second-chance points on 11 offensive rebounds. OU has reached double-digit offensive boards in each of the last three contests.
Tony Crocker recorded a team-high 22 points (tying for his second-highest career total) on 5-of-9 shooting. His 22 points were a personal best in Big 12 contests. Crocker also added a game-high nine rebounds, tying a career high.
Austin Johnson's 13 points (all in the first half) were three more than he had scored in the previous three contests combined
Cade Davis scored a career-high 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting, all from long range. The freshman was perfect from 3-point distance after entering tonight's contest 0-9 from long range in Big 12 play. He made his two free-throw attempts to remain perfect this season (16-of-16).
Iowa State was 10-of-11 from the free throw line in tonight's contest. OU's Big 12 opponents have now shot a combined 143-of-170 (.841) against the Sooners from the charity stripe.
