Sooners Head to Big 12 Championship

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's tennis team will head to Kansas City, Mo. on Thursday, April 26 for the Big 12 Conference Championships.
The Sooners will play Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Plaza Tennis Courts in Kansas City. Oklahoma will be the No. 6 seed and will face off with Kansas in the first round.
“We are really looking forward to the tournament,” said head coach Mark Johnson. “It is always a great event.”
The Sooners ended regular season play Saturday, April 21 in Boulder, Colo. with a 1-6 loss to the Buffalos. OU finished the season 8-12 overall and 5-6 in the Big 12. They had a 5-2 season at their home courts and finished 1-10 in road matches.
The Sooners were led this season by senior Irina Lykina who played at the No. 2, 3, and 4 singles spots. Lykina finished the season 14-8 in singles action.
