• Oklahoma's 88-82 double-overtime win at West Virginia marked OU's first overtime game under second-year head coach Jeff Capel. It also marked the Sooners' first win under Capel when trailing at halftime (OU had been 0-15).

• OU's win was its first on the road against a ranked opponent (West Virginia is No. 23 in both national polls) since Jan. 24, 2001, when the unranked Sooners beat AP No. 20 Texas by a 75-68 score in Austin.

• The Sooners have posted "quality" wins in three consecutive games (83-72 at home against Arkansas, 72-68 against Gonzaga in Oklahoma City and 88-82 in double overtime at West Virginia).

• One game after scoring 15 points and pulling down a season-high 14 rebounds in a win over Gonzaga, freshman Blake Griffin finished with 18 points and 16 boards against West Virginia. He played 42 minutes before fouling out with 3:55 left in the second overtime. His previous high in minutes played was 32 in a loss to Memphis on Nov. 15.

• Senior center Longar Longar was held scoreless in five minutes of first-half action (he picked up two fouls). He rebounded to net 14 points in the second half and added eight more in the overtime sessions to finish with a season-high 22. Longar has scored at least 16 points in each of the last five outings and is averaging 18.0 during the stretch.

• Longar was 7-for-8 from the field after halftime (he was 0-for-1 in the first half) and upped his season field goal mark to .555. His eight free throw makes and 11 attempts both represented season highs.

• OU shot .537 from the field, marking the seventh time this year and fourth in the last six games it has posted a figure above .500.

• The Sooners shot .409 from the field and .286 from 3-point range (2-for-7) in the first half, but came back to shoot .625 from the field and .667 from long distance (6-for-9) in the second half and overtime periods.

• Senior guard David Godbold played all 50 minutes of the contest and finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. The 18 points were the second most of his career (he scored 20 at home against Texas A&M last year) and the seven boards marked a season high.

• Austin Johnson matched a career high with nine assists and also finished with 13 points and four rebounds. The junior guard has scored in double figures in five of the last seven games (he had nine points in each of the other two games) and is averaging 12.1 over those seven contests. Johnson was 5-for-9 from the field and 3-for-5 from 3-point range on the game.

• Sophomore guard Tony Crocker was held to five field goal attempts on the evening but made three of them, with two of them being 3-pointers. Crocker upped his season 3-point field goal percentage to .519 with the 2-for-3 effort and has now made multiple 3-pointers in five of the last six games. His second 3-pointer came with 6.6 seconds left in the first overtime and forced a second-extra session.

• Keith Clark's seven points tied for his most in the last six games. The sophomore forward's two free throws with 37 seconds left in the second overtime pushed OU's lead to 84-80.

• After committing only eight turnovers against Arkansas on Dec. 15 and a season-low five against Gonzaga on Dec. 20, the Sooners turned it over 20 times against West Virginia. The Mountaineers, who committed just 11 offensive miscues, converted OU's 20 turnovers into 22 points.

• OU canned half of its 16 attempts from 3-point range to raise its season percentage to .387. It has shot at least .500 from beyond the arc in four games this season.

• Oklahoma held West Virginia, which was averaging 86.1 points a game entering the day, to 66 points through regulation. Only one team (Arkansas finished wihth 72) has topped the 70-point mark against OU through 40 minutes of play this year.

• After going 12-for-22 (.545) from the free throw line in regulation, the Sooners were 10-for-13 (.769) in the two overtimes.

• Oklahoma's five starters played 218 of a possible 250 minutes in the game. In addition to Godbold's 50 minutes and Griffin's 42, Johnson played 48, Crocker played 46 and Longar played 32. Clark played 16 off the bench, Taylor Griffin saw 10 minutes and Cade Davis and Omar Leary played three minutes each.
