MADISON, Wis. - The Oklahoma volleyball team (2-2) fell to No. 9 Wisconsin, 3-0, at the InnTowner Invitational in Madison, Wis., on Friday night in front of 4,050 fans inside the Wisconsin Field House. The Sooners, who faced their first ranked opponent of the season, kept it close in every game, but couldn't capitalize as they dropped the three-game match, 30-26, 30-25 and 30-22.

The Sooners, who were averaging a .250 clip entering tonight's match, struggled offensively as the Badgers held the Sooners to a  .165 hitting percentage while OU wasn't able to stop the Badger offense as it recorded an impressive .314 clip. The Badgers also outlbocked the Sooners 13 to seven on defense.

Seniors Joanna Schmitt and Eliane Santos continued to lead the Sooner offense as each recorded 13 kills to lead the Sooner offense.  Schmitt, playing in front of her hometown crowd, recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 digs while Santos hit an impressive .444 while notching three block assists at the net.

Other defensive contributors included libero Anna Monsen, who led all players with 20 digs while junior Anna Stadel and senior Rachel Jackson contributed four block assists each at the net.

Jackson, OU's setter, added 36 assists for the offense while also adding four kills on a .500 clip.

In the opening game, the Sooners took the quick 2-0 lead, but that would be the last lead they would have as the hometown Badgers took the momentum.  Oklahoma rallied back from a 20-13 deficit and went on a 6-0 run, but that is the closest OU would get as Wisconsin took game one, 30-26.

It was more of the same in the second game as the Badgers took the 2-0 lead with a 30-25 win in the second frame.  The Sooners never held an advantage, but kept the deficit within five or less for the entire game.

OU came out strong in game three as it took the 3-1 advantage, but similar to the first two games, Wisconsin responded winning the third and final frame, 30-22.

Oklahoma finishes out tournament action on Saturday with a doubleheader.   OU will face Oregon State at 10 a.m. and finish tournament action with a 5 p.m. match against South Dakota State.
