MADISON, Wis. - The Oklahoma volleyball team used another sweep to earn its second straight win at the InnTowner Invitational Saturday night in Madison, Wis. The Sooners pushed their record to 4-2 with a three-game win (30-17, 30-19, 30-19) over South Dakota State (3-2) in their final match of the tournament.
Seniors Joanna Schmitt and Eliane Santos highlighted the tournament as both received all-tournament honors this weekend.
Schmitt, a Wisconsin native, was outstanding over the weekend in front of her hometown crowd. The outside hitter picked up her second all-tournament honor this season as she averaged 4.89 KPG during tournament action. Against the Jackrabbits, Schmitt led the team with 14 kills on a .314 clip.

“We did a great job with our serving and passing tonight,” head coach Santiago Restrepo said. “We really worked on it over the summer and I'm excited to see our girls improve in that area.”
It was the Oklahoma offense that took control again as the team combined for a .383 hitting percentage, besting its previous season high of .361 set against Oregon State this morning.
Setter Rachel Jackson guided the Sooner offense with her 43 assists and three kills on a .750 hitting percentage.
Other offensive contributors included freshman Bridget Laplante and Laura Tomes who each recorded eight kills in the Sooner victory.
Another Wisconsin native, Anna Monsen, led the Sooner defense as the libero collected 10 digs in the match. Santos led the Sooners at the net with four block assists and was supported by three block assists each from Tomes and Weiland.
The Sooners will return home this Wednesday, Sept. 6 as they take on the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles at 7 p.m. inside the Howard McCasland Field House. OU will be looking to avenge its five-game loss suffered to ORU last season in Tulsa.
