Soccer Finishes Preseason 2-0

DENTON, Texas - Junior Shana All scored two goals, including the game winner, as the Oklahoma soccer team won 3-2 at North Texas on Friday. The Sooners finish exhibition play with a 2-0 mark and now prepare for the season opener against Washington on Aug. 26.

Senior Kady Kelly, who scored a goal and assist against TCU on Tuesday in Norman, put OU on the board in the 11th minute with an unassisted goal from 10 yards out.

In the 25th minute it was Kelly getting involved with the scoring again, this time assisting on junior Shana All's first goal of the preseason.

The 2-0 lead would only last till the 30th minute. The Mean Green cut into the Sooner lead with a goal off the foot of Veronica Ayala and tied things up immediately after halftime with a tally by Kristen Campbell in the 47th minute.

The Sooners wasted no time regaining the lead and All provided the game winner with a goal scored from the left side of the box in the 52nd minute. The deciding goal was made possible on a centering pass from freshman Daphne Fitzpatrick. The newcomer finished the preseason with two goals and one assist.

Oklahoma held a 13-12 edge in shots and a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. All led all Sooners with five shots in the contest, while Kelly added two.

Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Nichols played the entire 90 minutes and collected four saves.

OU's 2006 opener against Washington will be played in Hawai'i, where they will also face host Hawai'i on Aug. 28. After the trip to Hawai'i, the Sooners will host Michigan on Sept. 1 in the home opener.
