NORMAN, Okla. -- Courtney Paris and the Oklahoma women's basketball team are the cover story in the Thursday, Feb. 23, sports section of USA Today.
The article titled 'New Star in the Middle' centers on the successes of Paris and the No. 9 Sooners, who have already claimed the Big 12 Regular Season Championship. Johnnie Whitehead wrote the piece.
It marks the second national publication that the Sooner center has been featured in this month. Paris and her twin sister, Ashley, were also the focal point of the a Sports Illustrated article by Kelli Anderson in the Feb. 6 issue.

Courtney Paris was never more animated than when her Oklahoma Sooners scored 44 first-half points en route to a victory at New Mexico.
Coach Sherri Coale knew her freshman phenom had talent. But on this Dec. 30 night, Paris showed the energy, passion and will to win while on the bench.
"That's the most excited she's been all season," Coale says of Paris, who played only five minutes in the first half because of foul trouble. "She's on the bench almost in awe of (her teammates) scoring 44 points without her."
The rest of the college women's basketball world, however, is in awe of the 6-4, 240-pound center, who, despite playing only 28.9 minutes a game, is averaging 21.3 points (sixth nationally through the NCAA's latest rankings), 15.0 rebounds (first) and 3.0 blocked shots (eighth) and shooting 61.4% from the field (sixth).
