NORMAN, Okla. -- The Big 12 Conference has announced a change to its football schedule for the 2005 season. Oklahoma's home game against Oklahoma State has been moved from Nov. 5 to Nov. 26 and will be televised on ABC.

The kickoff time will be set by Nov. 1 and will be either 2:30 p.m., or 7 p.m.

"Multiple conference teams have and continue to play on Thanksgiving weekend to fulfill selection rights that are guaranteed through the Big 12 Conference's television agreement," said OU Athletics Director Joe Castiglione.

"The University of Oklahoma has participated in the past and now, along with other league institutions, we are being selected again. It remains our preference to leave that weekend open in advance of the league championship game and in observance of the holiday period for student-athletes, campus community and fans.

"At the same time we have to embrace our responsibility as a conference member, and the television exposure benefits our program in a myriad of ways not the least of which is allowing countless fans across the country to follow the Sooners.

"We also know from conversations with the conference office that there will likely be more Thanksgiving weekend games in the future. We believe a process will be established so that the responsibility is shared among other member institutions."

OU will now have an open date on Nov. 5.
