OU Adds Opponent, Announces Date Change for 2027 Football Season

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department announced Wednesday one opponent addition and one date change for the 2027 football season.
OU will open the 2027 campaign with a home game against Utah State on Aug. 28, while its previously announced contest against SMU at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is moving from Sept. 11 to Sept. 4.
OU's game against Utah State will mark its sixth against the Aggies, with the Sooners winning each of the previous five, all in Norman. Those five meetings came in 1972 (49-0), 1974 (72-3), 1991 (55-21), 2007 (54-3) and 2010 (31-24).
The Oklahoma-SMU game will mark OU's ninth at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The Sooners are 6-2 at the venue, including 5-0 in Big 12 Conference championship games. They have won the last five times they played there.
The OU-SMU contest will be the second of a two-game home-and-home series. The Sooners beat the Mustangs 28-11 in Norman on Sept. 9, 2023, and lead the all-time series 6-1-1.
The Sooners will play six home games during the 2026 season, and limited tickets for five of those contests are still available here. The Nov. 21 Texas A&M game in Norman is sold out.
