NORMAN, Okla.   The Oklahoma volleyball squad endured a tough 3-1 loss to No. 23 Texas A&M, its third ranked opponent in two weeks, inside the Howard McCasland Field House Saturday night.  The Aggies and Sooners were both battling it out for their first conference win of the season, with A&M taking the four-game match (30-25, 25-30, 30-26, 30-22).

The Sooners dropped to 5-11 overall and 0-7 in the Big 12, extending their losing streak to eight matches.  The Aggies broke their six-match losing streak with the win and pushed their record to 8-7 and 1-5 in conference action.

Statistically, the teams couldn't have matched up any better against each other.  Both squads pounded 61 kills each while A&M bested OU in hitting percentage with a .285 clip, compared to the Sooners' .214.  OU collected 48 digs while A&M tallied 49.  The Aggies did own the advantage at the net with 13 team blocks compared to OU's eight.

OU was unable to stop Texas A&M's Laura Jones, who pounded 30 kills on a .333 clip in the match.  The Big 12 leader in kills and points also managed a double-double with 14 digs.

Highlighting the Sooner offense was sophomore Anna Stadel who had a career night.  The middle blocker pounded 17 kills on a .536 clip.  Stadel's previous career high was 13 kills set earlier this season against Kansas.

Junior Eliane Santos continued her offensive production with 15 kills on a .440 clip.  It marked Santos' eighth match this season to post more than 10 kills.  The middle blocker also led the Sooners at the net with five block assists.

Joanna Schmitt led the Sooners in digs with 14 while also adding eight kills for the Oklahoma offense.  Libero Hannah Sharp collected 12 digs in the back row for the Sooners.

Oklahoma will look to snap its losing streak as it hits the road Wednesday, Oct. 12 for a match up against Baylor in Waco, Texas at 7 p.m.  The Bears suffered a four-game loss to No. 19 Texas Saturday night.
