Moore Has High School Jersey Retired

January 06, 2004 | Women's Basketball

Oklahoma freshman Kendra Moore had her No. 10 high school jersey retired during a ceremony before the Ardmore and Trinity Christian Girls High School basketball game on Dec. 29, 2003. The ceremony was apart of the 21st Annual Ted Younts Holiday Festival at the Ardmore Multi-Purpose Gym in Ardmore, Okla.

Moore, a 5-5 guard, was honored for her achievements as a Lady Tiger, awarded an All-State jacket and presented an encased picture frame with her road red jersey.

"This is a great honor and I'm thankful for the fans that supported us, and my family and friends," Moore said. "It is just a great honor and I'm glad that it happened."

OU coach Sherri Coale, assistant Jan Ross and freshman teammates Leah Rush, Britney Brown and Krista Sanchez were in attendance.

“It's a privilege to be a part of the recognition of Kendra,” said Coale. “This is such a deserving and special kid that comes from a tremendous family and a kid that really made a difference at Ardmore High School."

Moore missed her final prep season due to an ACL injury suffered during Sooner Sessions team camp in July 2002. However, she went on to earn Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State honors and concluded her high school career with 18.0 points, 8.0 steals, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game averages.  She also was a two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year honoree (junior, sophomore) and a Daily Oklahoman Super Five pick as a sophomore.

She is the daughter of Andre and Katherine Moore and sister to older brothers, Derrick (25) and Kenderick (30). Derrick played basketball at Tulane while Kenderick played baseball at Arkansas and later for the Kansas City Royals organization.  Derrick's jersey has also been retired by Ardmore High School.
