The Oklahoma football team held the first of two Monday practices inside the Everest Indoor Facility due to the overnight rain that dampened the Norman campus. Practice ran just over two hours and featured team drills, which are similar to a scrimmage without the tackling.

Highlights from the practice included a 55-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Paul Thompson to junior Brandon Jones, as well as all the running backs, including freshman Jacob Gutierrez and Tashard Choice, getting reps with the offense.

"Same old thing with double sessions, guys were solid and good," said OU head coach Bob Stoops. "I liked the intensity. Good physical competition between the offense and defense."

The aforementioned running backs were a focal point during the early workout which ran from 7:45-10 a.m. Stoops was pleased with the progress of the unit.

"It is coming along well, guys are physical up front," said Stoops. "I believe we are more creative, in that we are creating more seams, more opportunities. We're adding a little more diversity to our running game which will hopefully keep people from zeroing in on it."

Senior Jason White was held out for the majority of practice which was a coach's decision. White is expected to fully participate during the second practice session at 6 p.m.

"Jason's fine, we just don't want to wear him out with all the snaps he's getting," said Stoops. "The other guys got a few more snaps and they looked pretty good. This gives them extra opportunities."

The Everest Indoor Facility has been home to OU practices twice in the last three days and Stoops enjoys the amenities.

"It keeps you from being forced to go outside and slip around," said OU's head coach. "It decreases the chances of players pulling muscles and those types of injuries. We also don't have to alter practice schedules, which is important because we have things to get done and we can do it all inside this facility."

The Oklahoma football team will hold its first preseason scrimmage tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. A PDF version of the roster is linked with this article for fans to print out.
