Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops said it was like his team never stopped practicing. That's how much he liked what he saw on the first day of spring drills, Monday.
"It's amazing to me how it feels like we just finished practicing for the Rose Bowl," Stoops said. "We're doing our entire offense and defense. The guys looked sharp."
The team went through a two-hour, 30-minute practice on the grass practice fields south of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in shoulder pads and shorts.
The biggest news to come out of the workout was that Jason White, who suffered a season ending injury against Alabama last fall, is expected to have full clearance by the end of this week. That means the senior quarterback will likely participate in the final two spring scrimmages and the spring game, something he was not able to do while recovering from another knee surgery last year.
Stoops said the Tuesday practice will begin at 3:45 p.m., and will end at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Oklahoma's first spring scrimmage is Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
All of the spring workouts are open to the public.
Notes: Sophomore quarterback Paul Thompson has switched to jersey number 12 after wearing number 14 last season ... All-American heavyweight wrestler Leonce Crump is working out with the football team at defensive end and is wearing number 90.
