NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team announced its 2002 spring schedule earlier this week. Oklahoma Head Coach Paul Lockwood, in his 15th year, begins competition on Jan. 25 against the University of Oklahama-Science and Arts.

In Big 12 action, Oklahoma welcomes Colorado, Baylor, Nebraska and Texas Tech to its new facility, the OU Tim Headington Family Tennis Complex while playing Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State on the road.

"I'm excited about the upcoming spring schedule," said Lockwood. "With the Big 12 being one of the top three or four tennis conferences in the nation, we will be competing against nationally ranked teams like Texas A&M, Texas and Baylor."

The Sooners' non-conference road opponents throughout the season include New Mexico, Texas-Arlington, Lamar, Chaminade, Hawaii, Idaho and Wisconsin-Green Bay. The only non-conference opponents traveling to Norman are Oral Roberts and Wichita State on March 1 and 2, respectively, while the Sooners will face Northern Iowa and Southwest Missouri State in Oklahoma City.

The 2002 Big 12 Championships are April 26-28 in Lubbock, Texas, followed by the NCAA Regional Championships May 11-12 with the site to be determined.
