NORMAN, Okla. - After postponing its first two Big 12 Conference matches, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team is set to begin league action against nationally ranked Kansas State University (4-2). The Sooners (1-7) travel to Manhattan, Kan., on Wednesday to face the Wildcats at Bramlage Coliseum at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are ranked No. 22 in the most recent USA Today/AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Sooners face the Wildcats for the 55th time in program history. OU holds a 40-13-1 edge over K-State. The last time the two teams met was on Nov. 15, 2000, with KSU taking the match 3-0.
"With last week off from competition, we worked hard and improved, and we are ready to play again," said OU Head Volleyball Coach Kalani Mahi. "We just have to transfer everything we worked on this past week into the match situation."
After Wednesday's match, OU returns to Norman to play host to SMU (3-4) on Thursday, Sept. 20, and Kansas (8-0) on Saturday, Sept. 22. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. in the OU Field House.
