As the NCAA tourney approaches, what is the team's expectations and goals?

Bouncing back from the loss of J.R. We have to finish up strong and get everyone involved more than what we did early in the year.

What was it that made you choose OU over other schools? Who else were you getting recruited by? What are you most excited about for the next two years?

Mainly it was Texas and OU. My decision was really hard. I have family in Texas. I chose OU because of the coaches and players. They really got to me. Coach Sampson was really a main point for me to come here.

Just defense. Coming out and playing with intensity like we did in the second half last night. If we can do that we won't have any problems.

Off the court things will take care of themselves. On the court I just have to run my team. I think I did a good job last night. Everybody fed off me early in the season so we just have to get back to doing that.

You look more comfortable at the point...is that where you prefer to play?

It depends on what coach wants me to do. When J.R. moved to the point we got better but I HAVE to play the point now so whatever we can do to win, that is what I am all about.

How hard do you think the Big 12 field has been so far this year?

It is tough. Going down to Texas Tech we took a loss. Everyone can beat you on any given night. We beat Texas by 20 but lost to O-State. People underestimate how tough the Big 12 is.

You mentioned Coach Sampson as one of your main reasons. What about him stood apart from other coaches. What do you like about him?

Coach came in my house and told me he needed me to play some minutes and expected me to start later in the year. He talked to my grandparents and really talked to me as a person, not a player. I really like that about him.

What was the spark that produced the defensive effort last night against Colorado in the second half?

We went into halftime and we knew we were only up by 1. We talked and Kelly Newton told us all that we had to play harder. He only has two games left and we wanted to play hard for the seniors.

How do you think you guys will fair against ACC teams?

We only had one test against Maryland. That is something that will take care of itself down the road. I thought we played good against Maryland but our guard play wasn't really there. I had a chance to gain some confidence last night. We'll be ready for them.

That is tough. I haven't really been focusing on other conferences besides ours. So I can't really answer that.

What do you think is your team's best trait or strength. Did you anticipate doing this well this season?

Pushing the ball. Last night we got easy transtion buckets. That is our strength right now.

With the team's lack of size, do you feel like this team is capable of playing more uptempo and utilizing your speed and athleticism?

Yeah. I think the lack of size thing only takes place down low. If their guards are 6'7" we can do a good job with them. I think we can go far in the tourney. Size is overrated. MSU last year wasn't the biggest team in the nation and they won a championship.

Is there any extra pressure on the basketball team with the football team being national champions?

Not really. We are happy that our football team accomplished something like that. That just gets us hyped even more to go out and get one ourselves.

What do you think has been the best influence on your game??

It would have to be ... I have so many ... Gary Payton, Ray Allen and my grandparents. My grandparents pushed me harder than anybody, even the coaches. So far I have done well for them.
