NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma Head Volleyball Coach Kalani Mahi announced the signing of Jennifer Adams, a high school senior from Livermore, Calif., this week.
"I am very excited about coming to Oklahoma," said Adams. "I chose Oklahoma over the other colleges that were interested in me because I liked the people and the atmosphere of OU."
As a senior at Livermore High School, Adams was a first team all-league pick along with being selected as her team's captain and Most Valuable Player. She was voted the Most Improved Player as a sophomore and junior and led her team to a third place finish in the league tournament as a senior and a second place finish as a junior.
"Jennifer is going to add a lot of depth to our line up," Mahi said. "She brings a lot of athleticism to the team and will challenge for a starting role in the middle next fall. She plays for one of the top volleyball clubs in California (Golden Bear) and she is solid academically as well."
Adams' club team took second place in the Great America 18's Tournament, third place in Power League and fourth place at Junior Far Westerns last spring. Her team then went to Junior Nationals and finished 29th, ranking them second in all of the Northern California Teams.
A multi-sport athlete, Adams participated in track and field one year and played basketball for two years. As a sophomore, she was voted the basketball team's Most Improved Player, and as a junior, she was voted the Defensive Player of the Year.
