NORMAN, Okla. - In its final tournament of the season, the Univeristy of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-21, 1-12 Big 12) is set to travel to the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational on Nov. 3-4, in Springfield, Mo.
The Sooners will face Middle Tennesse State (8-17, 4-8 Sun Belt) on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, OU will take on Wichita State (7-13, 3-10 Missouri Valley) at 9 a.m. and tournament host Southwest Missouri State (17-5, 10-3 Missouri Valley) at 2:30 p.m.
Leading the Sooners are sophomore Logan Pierce and freshman Candice Woods. Pierce is averaging 3.07 kills per game, while Woods is hitting a team-high .213. Defensively, Pierce paces the Sooners with 2.41 digs per game, and Woods holds a team-best blocking average with 0.79 bpg.
Coming off a 3-0 loss to Bowling Green on Tuesday, MTSU is being led by Shakeithia Deckard, who is averaging 4.11 kills per game, while Erin Hillstrom is pacing the Blue Raiders with 2.64 digs per game. Karisse Baker is averaging a team-best 1.03 blocks per game.
Wichita State's Sara Younes comes into the tournament averaging 2.91 kills per game, while Nicole May tops the team with 2.37 digs per game. Kiley Randolph paces the Shockers with 0.84 blocks per game and Younes is serving up a team-best 0.44 service aces per game.
SMS, Oklahoma's fourth and final opponent of the week, is currently in second place in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears are led by Linette White, who holds a team-high .366 hitting percentage while averaging 3.25 kills and 1.28 blocks per game. Rese McNatt tops the SMS defense with 3.04 digs per game.
Oklahoma returns to the Howard McCasland Field House on Wednesday, Nov. 7, against Big 12 foe Baylor. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
