NORMAN, Okla. - After a week of tough competition, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-13, 1-4 Big 12) prepares to take on Baylor (10-4, 2-4 Big 12) in Waco, Texas, on Wednesday. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
Oklahoma leads the all-time series 15-9 dating back to 1976. Baylor has taken the last four matches with OU last winning 3-2 on Nov. 27, 1998, in Norman.
Sophomore Logan Pierce continues to lead the OU offense. She has 139 kills (2.90 kpg) with junior Lindsay Hoyt being the only other Sooner to hit the century mark in kills with 102 (2.12 kpg). Freshman Candice Woods leads the team in hitting efficiency at .182 and blocking with 0.85 bpg. The Sooners rank sixth in service aces in the Big 12 Conference (1.69 sapg) while junior Jessica Barney ranks eighth individually, averaging 0.44 service aces per game.
Baylor will prove to be a strong offensive opponent because the Bears rank first in kills (17.57 kpg) and assists (15.91 apg) in the league. Sisters Stevie and Sunny Nicholas lead the Bears' offense. Stevie has posted 230 kills (5.00 kpg) while Sunny leads the team in hitting efficiency at .366 while averaging 2.70 kills per game.
Following Wednesday night's match the Sooners will play host to Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Howard McCasland Field House. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
