NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-12, 1-3 Big 12) will take on Nebraska (12-1, 7-0 Big 12) on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Nebraska Coliseum.
The last time Oklahoma defeated the Huskers was on Oct. 10, 1997, at the Howard McCasland Field House. Nebraska leads the all-time series 53-6, winning the last seven matches with OU in three-game sweeps.
Sophomore Logan Pierce leads the Sooners with 128 kills (2.84 kpg) while junior Lindsay Hoyt tops the team in digs with 118 (2.62 dpg). Freshman Candice Woods has a team-high 39 blocks (0.87 bpg) and junior Jessica Barney leads the Sooners with 21 service aces (0.47 sapg).
The Huskers, the 2000 national championship team, are coming off a three-game sweep of Missouri. NU is led by Nancy Metcalf offensively with 182 kills (4.44 kpg) and defensively with 138 digs (3.37 dpg). Amber Holmquist leads the Huskers with a .486 hitting efficiency while Jenny Kropp tops the team with 78 blocks (1.95 bpg).
Oklahoma continues competition on the road at Baylor on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Match time with the Bears (8-4, 0-4 Big 12) is set for 7 p.m. in Waco, Texas.
