NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-20, 1-11 Big 12) is set to take on No. 14 Texas A&M on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in College Station, Texas. Match time with the Aggies (16-3, 9-2 Big 12) is set for 7 p.m. at the G. Rollie White Coliseum.
Texas A&M leads the all-time series with OU, 22-1, dating back to 1974. Oklahoma's lone victory was on Sept. 15, 1979, in Denton, Texas. The Aggies will be entering the first meeting between the two teams this season on a four-match winning streak. Their most recent victory was a three-game sweep over then No. 24 Colorado.
Leading the Sooners into Wednesday's match are sophomore Logan Pierce and freshman Candice Woods. Pierce leads the OU offense, averaging 3.11 kills per game, and is second in digs at 2.42 dpg behind junior Lindsay Hoyt who averages 2.44 dpg. Woods boasts a team-high .225 hitting clip, while leading the team in blocks (0.82 bpg). Junior Jessica Barney remains strong at the service line, averaging 0.41 service aces per game. She also leads the Sooners with 9.70 assists per contest.
Erin Lechler leads the Aggies offense, posting 3.81 kills per game, while Michelle Cole tops the defense with 4.35 digs per game. Melissa Munsch averages 1.03 blocks per game to lead Texas A&M, and Jenna Mosovic dishes out a team-high 13.35 assists per contest.
