NORMAN, Okla. - In its third contest of the week, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-20, 1-11 Big 12) dropped a match to No. 24 Colorado (13-7, 8-4 Big 12) today at the Howard McCasland Field House.
Offensively, the Sooners were led by sophomore Christina Barlow and freshman Candice Woods. Barlow recorded a team-high 11 kills while hitting .261, and Woods posted a team-best .357 hitting clip (6K, 1E, 14TA). The Buffaloes held the Sooners to a .122 team hitting percentage while hitting .291.
"I thought we performed well, but we can always do better," said Oklahoma Head Volleyball Coach Kalani Mahi. "Candice (Woods) had another great match for us, and Christina (Barlow) did a great job offensively."
Oklahoma freshman Gretchen French led the Sooners with five blocks, while three others had three blocks each. Barlow recorded a team-best six digs, and freshman Alexia McWhinney served up a team leading three service aces.
Sonja Russell led the Buffaloes with 13 kills, while setter Elizabeth Gower posted a team-best .769 hitting clip (10K, 0E, 13TA). Kim Taskey hustled for a team-high nine digs, and Josee Roberge led the team with five blocks. Gower also led the Buffaloes with three service aces and 23 assists.
The Sooners are next in action against No. 14 Texas A&M on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Match time with the Aggies is set for 7 p.m. at the G. Rollie White Coliseum in College Station, Texas.
