NORMAN, Okla. - After defeating Kansas 3-1 earlier this season, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team dropped the second match of the season series, 3-0 (30-24, 30-28, 33-31), to Kansas (13-9, 3-8 Big 12) tonight in Lawrence.
The Sooners (2-18, 1-9 Big 12) were led by sophomore Logan Pierce, who recorded a match and career-high 20 kills (20K, 9E, 50TA) while hitting .220. Juniors Jessica Barney and Denise Griffin hustled for a team-best 10 digs each, while freshman Candice Woods posted a match-high five blocks. Woods also led OU in hitting efficiency at .316 (7K, 1E, 19TA).
Oklahoma outblocked the Jayhhawks 13-7, while both teams each recorded 46 digs. Molly Scavuzzo led KU with 17 kills and a .560 hitting clip. Danielle McHenry recorded a team-high 11 digs, while Kylie Thomas posted a team-best four blocks.
The Sooners are next in action against Missouri (15-5, 6-5 Big 12) on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Howard McCasland Field House. Match time is set for 7 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 28, OU plays host to Colorado (11-6, 6-3 Big 12) at 2 p.m., also at the Howard McCasland Field House.
