Oct. 20, 2001 - Norman, Okla.

OKLAHOMA HEAD COACH BOB STOOPS

On Baylor's peformance:
"They play hard and they're well-coached. It's obvious they are a team on the rise. I didn't think we played bad at all. A lot more has to do with the fact Baylor is an improving team. You have to give them credit."

On sophomore quarterback Jason White:
"Jason was outstanding, passing and running the ball effectively. What impressed me the most was he seemed to be in control of the offense throughout the game. Jason executed the first touchdown exceptionally and that set the tone for the game."

On the kicking game:
"We may have been a little too aggressive on the Baylor's kickoff return (for a touchdown). We lost containment and the returner (Randy Davis) read it. That was really the only mistake with the kicking game."

On the 20-game winning streak:
"I think one of the reasons for our success is our ability to produce when we absolutely have to, whether it is a big defensive play or a long productive drive late in the game."

OKLAHOMA QUARTERBACK JASON WHITE

"I never thought I would throw the ball 44 times. The offensive line did a great job and they gave me time the whole game. Also, the wide receivers got open, but I can still make quicker decisions. My main problem was holding the ball too long. I could have made better decisions, like throwing it away on some of those sacks."

"We started off the game strong. I wished we could have finished it that way."

"This gives me a good start and I look forward to continuing to win for Oklahoma."

"Baylor is a good team. They mixed up the blitzes and disguised what they were doing. They are a much improved team."

"Nebraska is a great team. We need to go out and work hard so we can play with them. We will be ready. I never thought I'd get to play in an OU-Nebraska game. It's a dream come true."

"I'm just exhausted. I usually don't cramp up but I was feeling it today. It was a long game for everyone and it was definitely a good win for us."

OKLAHOMA RECEIVER MARK CLAYTON

"I was trying to get upfield most of the day but Baylor is a good defensive team. I had to shorten some of my routes but I have good chemistry with Jason White."

"It was no different with Jason back there instead of Nate. I just run my routes and if he throws it to me, I catch it. Jason was very controlling in the huddle."

OKLAHOMA DEFENSIVE TACKLE BARY HOLLEYMAN

"We were getting upfield too far and not getting to the quarterback. He was able to step up and we need to get better in that area."

"After the fumble on the kickoff, we had a really big possession. They could have pulled within one touchdown so we had to stop them."

"There are no set numbers as far as the playing time we get. We have a lot of talented tackles so the coaches put us in when we are fresh."

BAYLOR HEAD COACH KEVIN STEELE

On Oklahoma:
"That's a good football team in the other locker room. They're well coached and they are good players."

On the outcome:
"I'm frustrated but I'm not down. It's my job to figure out how to get it done, totally."

On the second half:
"We made some adjustments at halftime. We made some offensive changes but the defense just revved their motors up."

"We played cautious in the first half but we came out more aggressive after halftime. I think our tempo was better in this game. This is the fastest we've snapped the ball all year."

On quarterback Davon Vinson:
"We evaluate our players every week, and Vinson has been practicing hard. We do what's best for our football team to be successful. It was just time to add another dimension to our offense."

On Baylor's sacks:
"Our defensive coaches had a good game plan on how to approach things today. I also think we had guys out there who were relentless in the pass rush."

On the future:
"Our kids have a lot of pride and a lot of fight in them. We have to make sure we step it up a little bit."

BAYLOR DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR BRICK HALEY

On Jason White
"When he's running with the football, it's like they're got another running back out there. He's a tough hombre because we hit him hard today and he just kept getting back up."

BAYLOR RECEIVER REGGIE NEWHOUSE

On halftime:
"The big difference after the half was attitude. We refocused at halftime and went out there and drove the ball down the field."

On quarterback Davon Vinson:
"It wasn't a surprise to see him (Vinson) out there. He's a true freshman in his first game against Oklahoma, and he did a really good job."

BAYLOR DEFENSIVE BACK BOBBY HART

On halftime:
"He (Kevin Steele) just told us we were too loose in the first half. We needed to stick with our man long enough to give the pass rushers time to get to the ball, and I think we did that. We just need to play all four quarters."
