NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team fell to 2-15 overall and 1-6 in the Big 12 after a 3-0 loss (30-17, 30-27, 30-19) to Texas Tech (11-5, 4-3 Big 12) tonight at the Howard McCasland Field House.

Sophomore Logan Pierce paced the Sooners with 14 kills and a .333 hitting clip while freshman Candice Woods put down 11 kills and posted a team and career-high .588 hitting efficiency. Despite two outstanding performances by Pierce and Woods, the Red Raiders outhit the Sooners .405 to .226 with Kate Jury-Shannon leading the way for TTU with an .800 hitting clip with four kills and no errors on five attempts.

"I don't think we were mentally prepared in the first game but in the second game we came out focused," said Head Volleyball Coach Kalani Mahi. "The jump serving by (TTU's) Kelly Johnson really hurt us in the third game."

Johnson posted three service aces to lead the team while juniors Lindsay Hoyt and Jessica Barney registered two service aces each for the Sooners.

Defensively for Oklahoma, Barney and sophomore Christina Barlow had eight digs each while freshman Gretchen French and Woods posted two blocks each. The Sooners trailed TTU by only one dig (38-39).

Heather Justice led the Red Raiders' offense with 17 kills while posting a .567 hitting percentage. TTU's Jury-Shannon played in only the third game but managed to post a team-high five blocks and four kills.

The Sooners are next in action against Iowa State on Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones have yet to win a Big 12 Conference match. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
