NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-14, 1-5 Big 12) will play its fourth home match against Texas Tech (10-5, 3-3 Big 12) on Saturday, Oct. 13. Match time with the Red Raiders is set for 7 p.m. in the Howard McCasland Field House.
Texas Tech leads the all-time series 27-11, sweeping the last six matches from the Sooners. Oklahoma last defeated the Red Raiders 3-0 on Nov. 28, 1997, in Norman.
Leading the Sooners into Saturday night's match are sophomore Logan Pierce and junior Lindsay Hoyt. Pierce leads the team with 148 kills (2.74 kpg) followed by Hoyt with 114 (2.11 kpg). Hoyt tops the team in digs with 127 (2.35 dpg) with Pierce on her heels at 121 (2.24 dpg). Freshman Candice Woods is averaging a team-high 0.81 blocks per game while junior Jessica Barney has posted 25 service aces (0.46 sapg).
Texas Tech is coming off a 3-1 loss (38-36, 37-39, 21-30, 25-30) to No. 17 Texas A&M on Wednesday night after losing their top offensive performer, Yolanda Cumbess. Cumbess left the team earlier this week due to personal reasons. Melissa McGehee leads the Red Raiders with 178 kills (3.30 kpg) while Ann Romjue paces the team with 193 digs (3.78 dpg). Setter Skydra Orzen is averaging 14.54 assists per game to lead Texas Tech.
The Sooners are next in action against Iowa State on Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Ames, Iowa. Oklahoma has won the last four matches with the Cyclones and leads the all-time series 35-11. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the Hilton Coliseum.`
