NORMAN, Okla. - Wayman Tisdale, the most prolific basketball player to ever don a University of Oklahoma uniform, will be the featured speaker at the University of Oklahoma men's basketball 2000 Tip-Off Banquet this Thursday. The event, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on the Lloyd Noble Center floor, will help raise money for the arena renovation and expansion project that is already in full swing.
OU's all-time leading scorer and rebounder despite playing just his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, Tisdale was the second overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. The three-time consensus All-American and three-time Big Eight Player of the Year was also the leading rebounder for the 1984 gold-medal-winning USA Olympic team.
For more information on the OU Tip-Off Banquet, call the men's basketball office at (405) 325-4732. All fans wanting to attend Tisdale's speech will be admitted free of charge at 7:50 p.m.
Charlie Spoonhour, OU's television analyst and a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, will emcee the event.
