San Luis Obispo, Calif. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team began its season with a 3-2 victory over San Francisco inside Mott gym at the Cal Poly Hotel Classic in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Friday. The Sooners won the match over the Dons, 15-9, 9-15, 15-8, 11-15, 15-12.
Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Cornelius-Bookout led OU with a career-high 28 kills. Junior middle blocker Cathy Cook added 12 kills while junior setter Carolyn Kittell recorded 59 assists and 17 digs for the Sooners.
OU will continue tournament action Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. central time. The Sooners' will face Wichita State in first match of the day and will battle host Cal Poly in the nightcap.
