Carmen Oswalt is a learning specialist for OU athletics, where she coordinates and implements individualized academic support plans for student-athletes, communicates with academic staff about academic progress, and prepares summary reports and updates for academic staff.

Previously, Oswalt worked for Norman Public Schools for eight years as a fourth-grade teacher, a site new teacher liaison, and a site supervisory teacher. In 2023, Oswalt started as a high dosage tutor for OU athletics and served as a GRIT mentor in reading and study skills for student-athletes. In this role, she empowered student-athletes in explicit learning and thinking strategies to help them find success academically.

Oswalt earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and her master’s in educational administration curriculum and supervision from the University of Oklahoma. She continues to learn and read about educational strategies and new technology and has been a director of a STEM camp.

Oswalt lives in Norman with her spouse, Patrick, and two children, Grace and Elliott. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis, swimming, reading, and traveling.
