After three years as a successful thrower for the University of Oklahoma track and field team, Julia Reedy now begins a new role with the team as a volunteer strength and conditioning assistant coach. Her primary responsibility will be to assist strength and conditioning coach Evan Kubicek in the weight room with weightlifting activities.
Specializing in the hammer throw and weight throw at OU, the Dove Canyon, Calif., native was a two-time first team All-American in the hammer throw. She was named a team captain for the Sooners in 2016. Reedy also was a Big 12 indoor scorer all three years in the weight throw and was a Big 12 outdoor scorer in 2015 and 2016 in the hammer throw. She currently holds the Oklahoma program record in the hammer throw with a mark of 219-2.00 (66.81m).
Reedy graduated in August 2016 with a bachelor of science in multidisciplinary studies with a pre-physician associate emphasis. She is currently finishing her prerequisite classes for PA (Physician Associate) school while volunteering here in Norman.
