Ryan is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. Ryan earned a scholarship to play football at Kansas State University under legendary Head Coach Bill Snyder. Ryan served as a two-year captain and earned his degree in Communications. Ryan was drafted to play in the NFL by the New York Jets, drafted a second time as the 2nd overall pick in the 2002 Expansion Draft by the Houston Texans, and signed his final NFL contract with the Dallas Cowboys. After retiring from the NFL, Ryan worked for ESPN Radio and Fox Sports as a sports analyst and later left the industry to pursue a career in medical sales. While working on his Masters of Practical Theology at The King's University, Ryan was called to serve as a character coach with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 2017, Ryan resigned from FCA and, in 2018, took a position at The Hills Church as the Ministry of Recovery. Currently, Ryan serves as the Sr. Director of The SOUL Mission. Ryan and his wife Charity have four adult children (Caleb, Michael, David, and Morgan) and reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
