HOOVER, Ala. — Oklahoma fell in the first round of the SEC Baseball Tournament Tuesday night to LSU, 6-2.
A scoreless bout through two innings, the 14th-seeded Tigers (30-26) got on the board first in the third on a single to left field.
No. 11 seed OU (32-21) answered in the home half of the third on a Camden Johnson RBI single to left, the third of three straight base hits in the frame.
The Sooners went in front in the fourth on a wild pitch and error by the LSU defense, allowing Brendan Brock to race home after he reached on an error.
The Tigers retook the lead with a pair in the fifth, scoring on a double and errant throw home. In the eighth, a two-run home run pushed their lead to four runs. A scoreless ninth from both sides brought the final to 6-2.
OU now awaits its NCAA postseason fate. The NCAA selection show takes place Sunday, May 25 at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN2. Oklahoma will look to play in its fifth straight and 43rd NCAA Tournament all-time.
