NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golf opens postseason play this week at the SEC Championship, held April 16-21 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.
One of the strongest fields in college golf will tee it up, featuring 11 of the nation's top 30 teams, including five of the top 10.
The championship begins with three rounds of stroke play Friday through Sunday. The top eight teams after 54 holes will advance to match play, with quarterfinals and semifinals set for Monday and the championship match scheduled for Tuesday.
Tuesday's championship match will air live on SEC Network at 10 am ET / 9 am CT. Monday's semifinals will be available via SEC+.
The 27th-ranked Sooners will feature a lineup of
Savannah Barber,
Gracie Mayo,
Reagan Chaney,
Audrey Rischer and Satongkan (Earn) Thiengsri, with
Meg Tilma serving as the substitute.
Oklahoma enters postseason play following a sixth-place finish at the Huntington Bank Collegiate, where the Sooners posted a 5-under 859 across 54 holes, including back-to-back under-par rounds to open the event.
"We've put ourselves in a good position heading into postseason," head coach
Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. "This group has been consistent all spring, and we're looking forward to competing against a strong field this week."
The Sooners have recorded three top-five finishes this spring and have placed inside the top 10 in every event this season, carrying momentum into postseason play.
The 16-team field includes Alabama, No. 6 Arkansas, No. 8 Auburn, No. 3 Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, No. 16 Mississippi State, Missouri, No. 21 Ole Miss, No. 27 Oklahoma, No. 23 South Carolina, No. 18 Tennessee, No. 5 Texas, No. 4 Texas A&M and No. 14 Vanderbilt.
At last season's SEC Championship, Oklahoma finished 14th before advancing through NCAA Regionals and qualifying for the national championship.
