Top-15 Sooners Prepped For Five-Match Stretch

NORMAN – The No. 13 Oklahoma men's tennis team heads into the first week of February with five matches on deck. The streak of matches begins on Wednesday, Feb. 4, against Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Sooners return home to spend the weekend facing four opponents in two days at the Headington Family Tennis Center. OU takes on Wichita State on Friday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. followed by Oral Roberts later in the day at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, Feb. 7, Oklahoma faces another double header with the match against New Mexico beginning at 12 p.m. with UTA scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

The Sooners' 2026 home matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center will be open to the public and free of charge. Due to the elimination of concessions, fans are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. OU also follows a clear bag policy.
Fans in attendance at Friday's matches will receive free wristbands for mental health awareness. Those attending the Wichita State match have the chance to win OU tennis gear. Fans at Saturday's first match against New Mexico have the chance to win OU tennis gear.
IN THE RANKINGS
OU enters the five-match stretch as the No. 13 team in the nation. In the most recent ITA individual rankings, three Sooners sit inside the top-75 with Alvarez at No. 46, Lacides at No. 57 and sophomore Asahi Harazaki at No. 74. Rodriguez and Kimhi round out the ranked Sooners at the No. 30 spot in doubles.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Freshman and No. 2 newcomer Johan Rodriguez looks to extend his four-match singles win streak after taking two wins at ITA Kickoff Weekend in Berkeley, Calif.
The Colombia native clinched the upset win over then-No. 15 California with an 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 win at the three position followed by a 6-1, 6-4 victory against UCF to contribute to Oklahoma's three points in the match.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Tulsa is not currently ranked in the ITA team rankings but has one ranked doubles pair. Connor Thomas Doig and Reiya Komagata sit at the No. 33 spot, just behind OU's Kimhi/Rodriguez pair.
Wichita State is not ranked inside ITA's top-25. Zaid Mashni is the only Shocker featured in the individual ranks, sitting at the No. 66 spot in singles.
Oral Roberts, New Mexico and UT Arlington are not ranked as teams and do not have players in the individual rankings.
UP NEXT
After the completion of the five-match run, the Sooners kick off conference play against No. 16 South Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 21 at noon at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
