No. 1 Sooners to Face No. 5 Florida in Gainesville Friday Night

February 12, 2026 | Women's Gymnastics

NORMAN — A tough challenge awaits the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team as they head to Gainesville, Fla., for a Friday night showdown with No. 5 Florida. The Sooners and Gators will go head-to-head at 5:45 p.m. CT inside the O'Connell Center. The meet will air on ESPN2 with John Roethlisberger, Aly Raisman, Sam Peszek and Taylor Davis on the call.

This is the Sooners first visit to Gainesville since 2022 and first since joining the SEC for the 2025 season. Since sharing the national title in 2014, the Sooners are 13-4 against the Gators and 6-1 since the teams last met in the O'Connell Center.

WEEKEND REWIND
A double weekend brought double the 198-plus scores as the Sooners picked up a conference win over No. 4 Alabama and a quad meet victory over No. 10 Arkansas, Arizona and TWU. Starting at home Friday night, the Sooners took down their sixth top 10 opponent on the season with a 198.200-197.475 victory over the Crimson Tide. Addison Fatta had a stellar meet with a 39.725 to win the all-around, along with event titles on both vault (9.975) and floor (9.950). Between the first three events, the Sooners notched 13 stuck landings with five each on bars and beam.

On Sunday, OU saw its first perfect score of the season as Mackenzie Estep recorded a 10.0 on vault. The freshman led the vault squad to a season-high 39.725 as four Sooners stuck their Yurchenko 1.5s. The team posted a season-best 49.750 on floor to cap off their third 198 score of the season.

FRESHMEN PERFECTION
On Feb. 8, Mackenzie Estep joined an exclusive club as she became the sixth freshman in program history to earn a perfect 10. Estep, who earned the mark on vault, joins former Sooners Jordan Bowers (vault, 2022), Brenna Dowell (bars, 2015), Maggie Nichols (vault, bars, beam, floor, 2017), Olivia Trautman (floor, 2019) and Anastasia Webb (beam, 2018) in the history books. Estep is the first freshman since Bowers in 2022 to earn a perfect mark and the third to do so on vault joining Bowers and Nichols.

PAIR OF SOONERS HONORED BY SEC
Sophomore Addison Fatta and freshman Mackenzie Estep were named the SEC Gymnast and Freshman of the Week, respectively, after helping lead the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team to back-to-back scores of 198-plus on the weekend. This is the first award of the season for Fatta and second career honor after being named a freshman of the week in 2025. Estep claimed her third freshman of the week honor in five weeks, the most of any team. The Sooners have now won five weekly awards, tied for most in the league with Florida.

The duo were instrumental in helping the Sooners to a pair of season bests on both vault (49.725) and floor (49.750), while also leading the squad to a pair of wins over top 10 SEC opponents. On vault, the pair combined for four marks of 9.95 or higher, while also tallying three scores of 9.95 or higher on floor.

FANTASTIC FATTA
Sophomore Addison Fatta is making a name for herself as one of the top all-around competitors in the country in her second year of collegiate competition. With a career-high 39.750 set earlier this year, Fatta is one of only three athletes to reach the 39.700 mark joining UCLA's Jordan Chiles and LSU's Kailin Chio. The Wrightsville, Pa., native has reached new heights this year, recording a career high on vault (9.975) and floor (9.975) and tying her career high on beam (9.95). She has competed all-around in every meet of the season with 16 scores of 9.90 or higher over 24 routines (67 percent).

ROAD WARRIORS
In the last decade, the Sooners have shown they are a force to be reckoned with away from the friendly confines of Lloyd Noble Center. Since 2015, the Sooners boast a 251-15-1 record on the road, a 94 percent win rate. This includes a 63-6 record at true away competition sites and a 190-9-1 mark at neutral sites.

SISTER SISTER
Juniors Aspen Lenczner and Caitlin Smith and freshman Kamila Pawlak share a rare bond – sibling rivalries at the Division I level. Each has a sister competing in NCAA gymnastics, and this season they'll all go head-to-head. Pawlak and Lenczner went against their older sisters on Feb. 6 and 8 as Natalia Pawlak attends Alabama and Gigi Lenczner attends Arizona. Smith will see her sister, Rebekah, in late February when Auburn comes to Norman.

CLOUD 9.9
After the first month of competition, 51 percent of the Sooners' routines have gone 9.90 or higher (74-of-144). With just 19 through the first two meets, OU doubled its output with 18 against Georgia on Jan. 23. The Sooners have notched double-digit scores of 9.90 or better in four of six meets and two with over 15 (Georgia, Alabama).

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
No. 5 FLORIDA:
The Gators enter Friday's meet as the only other team to earn a No. 1 ranking this season. A tough meet at Missouri on Feb. 6, saw the Gators go 196.500 to drop in the rankings. Florida holds a trio of top-five event rankings sitting at No. 2 on beam and No. 5 on bars and floor. eMjae Frazier is the top all-arounder for the Gators with a 39.438 average for a top 10 ranking. Florida has reached the 198 mark once this season and is undefeated at home in 2026.

QUICK FLIPS
  • Oklahoma is the only team to be ranked in the top-five on all four events and as a team, coming in as No. 1 on vault, beam and as a team, No. 4 on bars and No. 3 on floor.
  • With a 197.500 in the season opener, the Sooners have scored a 197-plus in the opening meet of the year every year since 2017.
  • OU is the only school in the nation with a 49.700 or better on any event with a 49.725 on vault and a 49.750 on floor.
  • Addison Fatta is one of just three athletes to reach 39.700 in the all-around this season and the only SEC gymnast to do so twice.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Sooners will return to Lloyd Noble Center for one of the most anticipated meets of the year when No. 2 LSU comes to Norman for the first time since 2014. The teams will battle it out on Friday, Feb. 20 on ESPN2 at 7:45 p.m. CT.
