WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — In a meet that came down to a tiebreaker and counting all six scores on every event, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team took home the title in the afternoon session of the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad.
Oklahoma and LSU tied for first with a 197.500. With the sixth counting score on all four events, the Sooners came out on top by over a point with a 236.700-235.575 advantage. UCLA finished in third with a 197.000 and Utah finished fourth with a 195.900.
Junior
Hannah Scheible and senior
Faith Torrez earned matching 9.95s on beam to share the title with LSU's Kailin Chio. Freshman
Mackenzie Estep shared the floor title with UCLA's Jordan Chiles with a 9.925.
A 49.350 on vault had the Sooners in second after the first rotation, trailing leader UCLA (49.425) by .075. LSU was third with a 49.275 and Utah was fourth after a 47.775.
Sophomore
Lily Pederson led off with a strong Yurchenko 1.5 for a 9.825. Making her collegiate debut, sophomore
Elizabeth Blessey showed off her front handspring pike half for a 9.80 in the No. 2 spot. After a 9.875 from sophomore
Addison Fatta, Estep showed off an incredible 1.5 in her collegiate debut for the first 9.9 of the rotation. Torrez followed with a nearly stuck 1.5 for a 9.925 and junior
Keira Wells anchored with a 9.825.
The Sooners moved into the lead after a 49.475 on bars in the second rotation. LSU moved to third with a 49.325 on vault, followed by UCLA with a 49.125 on beam and Utah with a 49.050 on floor.
Making her return to lineups after an Achilles injury in 2025, Scheible led off bars with a 9.90. Pederson added a 9.825 in the No. 2 spot, followed by a stick on her full-in dismount from Estep. Freshman
Ella Murphy showed off her gorgeous lines and a stuck dismount in the No. 4 spot for a 9.925 on her first collegiate routine. Torrez notched a 9.825 in the No. 5 spot and Fatta anchored with a stuck double layout for a 9.925.
OU retained its lead with an impressive 49.500 on beam in the third rotation. LSU remained in second with a 49.550 on bars, followed by a 49.175 on floor for UCLA and 49.600 on vault for Utah.
Moving into the leadoff spot as a junior, Wells started the rotation with a 9.80. Pederson followed with a strong routine for a 9.825. Murphy's poise and elegance were on full display as she stuck her dismount for a 9.925 in the No. 3 spot. Fatta added a 9.850 with a stick of her own in the No. 4 spot. Making her beam debut was Scheible who nailed her routine for an incredible 9.95. In the anchor spot was Torrez, polished as always, for a 9.95 of her own.
Leading by .175, the Sooners notched a 49.175 in the final rotation to finish tied with LSU as the Tigers earned a 49.350 on beam. UCLA earned a 49.275 on vault and Utah notched a 49.375 on beam to close out the meet.
Sophomore
Kelsey Slade started the rotation with an upbeat routine for a 9.800, followed by a 9.775 from freshman
Kamila Pawlak in her first career routine as a Sooner. Estep closed out her impressive night with a 9.925, her third mark of 9.9-plus in the meet. Pederson tallied a 9.775 in the No. 4 spot, and Mueller added a 9.875. Fatta closed out the rotation with a 9.800.
LOOKING AHEAD
Conference action gets underway on Friday, Jan. 16, as the Sooners head to Columbia, Mo., for a national championship rematch with No. 7 Missouri. This will be the Sooners' first trip to Mizzou since 2012 when the squads were members of the Big 12 Conference.
