No. 1/1 Softball Drops 9-4 Decision at No. 7/9 Florida, Snapping Seven-Game Winning Streak

Sooners Clinch SEC Regular Season Championship Outright Prior to Game

GAINESVILLE, Fla.  — No. 1/1 Oklahoma (43-6, 17-6 SEC) drew first blood with a run in the first inning and Ella Parker hit a home run for the fourth straight game, but Florida (42-13, 13-10 SEC) responded with a pair of big innings as OU dropped game two of the series, 9-4, Friday, May 2. The loss snapped OU's seven-game winning streak that included sweeps of No. 15/16 Mississippi State and No. 3/2 Texas, as well as a victory against No. 7/9 Florida.

Oklahoma took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, which started off with Kasidi Pickering's 45th walk on the year. Parker doubled her to third and Gabbie Garcia plated Pickering with an RBI groundout. 

The Gators got even with a run in the first inning. Following two walks, Reagan Walsh provided an RBI single. 

UF took a 5-1 lead with the eventual game winning grand slam from Taylor Shumaker in the second inning. 

Isabella Smith entered in relief and worked a pair of scoreless frames before Parker launched a three-run home run in the top of the fifth, cutting the deficit to 9-4. UF's lead grew with four runs on three home runs in the fifth inning, completing UF's scoring. 

Cydney Sanders walked and Tia Milloy singled in a pinch hit role once again, putting OU with two on and none out in the sixth. The Gators escaped and also turned in a scoreless seventh.
