NORMAN — No. 4/2 Oklahoma Softball (35-6, 10-5 SEC) is set to begin a six-game home stand starting with a series against No. 15/16 Mississippi State (33-11, 9-6 SEC) Friday, April 18 through Sunday, April 20.

AGAINST MISSISSIPPI STATE
Oklahoma and Mississippi State have met eight times, with the Sooners leading the all-time series, 8-0. OU and Mississippi State have only met in Oklahoma one time, a 5-3 win for the Sooners in Norman, Okla. The last meeting was a 9-3 win for Oklahoma at the Mary Nutter Tournament in Cathedral City, Calif., Feb. 23, 2024.

No. 2/2 Oklahoma's game against No. 18/17 Wednesday at Devon Park in Oklahoma City April 9 set an NCAA Softball regular season single game attendance record as 9,259 spectators took in the contest. The total broke the previous record of 8,930 set between OU and Texas in 2023.
OH ME OH MAYA
Sophomore
Maya Bland had a week that she'll never forget, contributing with game-winning home runs in both of the Sooners' wins. Bland hit a go-ahead three-run home run against No. 18/17 Oklahoma City Wednesday in Oklahoma City before hitting a game-winning pinch hit two-run home run in the top of the seventh during OU's 5-1 win at No. 22/23 Alabama April 12.

Kasidi Pickering is leading the team in batting average (.430), home runs (12) and RBIs (42). She just wrapped up a 16-game hitting streak Monday at Alabama. Between March 23 and 30 she reached base safely in 15 consecutive at-bats.
THE GIFT OF GAB
Freshman infielder
Gabbie Garcia is tied for 10th among all freshmen in Division with 11 home runs. She was named D1Softball Freshman of the Week March 11 and April 8 as well SEC Player of the Week March 18. Earlier this month she became the first OU freshman since Jocelyn Alo to homer in five consecutive games.

Second baseman
Ailana Agbayani made a critical play in OU's win against Oklahoma State, diving to make a catch on a line drive with the bases loaded and nobody out in the fourth inning. She capped the inning off by cleanly fielding a grounder, helping flip the momentum back to OU before the Sooners' five-run fourth inning. Agbayani enters the weekend with a 1.000 percent fielding percentage, making every play that has come her way this year. She joins third baseman
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas as having started all 41 games at their respective infield positions this year.
FRESHIES
Oklahoma freshman have combined to hit 35 of Oklahoma's 77 home runs, paced by 11 from both
Gabbie Garcia and
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas. Five different OU freshmen have hit at least two home runs.
3X SEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Sam Landry has been named SEC Pitcher of the Week three times this season, earning the recognition February 17, March 18 and March 25. Landry is coming off a week that saw her go the distance three times, bringing her to 10 complete games on the season. She is 13-3 this year with a 1.77 ERA and 114 strikeouts.
WOAH NELLY
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas has hit eight home runs in 15 SEC games, while averaging over a run and an RBI per conference contest. In the SEC-opening weekend she hit two three-run home runs in the same game to help defeat South Carolina, 10-9, March 9. She is the first Sooner to hit a pair of three-run homers in the same game since Lynnsie Elam did so against Iowa March 20, 2022. She has hit four three-run home runs this season. McEnroe-Marinas paces the team in RBIs (20) and runs (17) during conference play.
ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS
The Sooners have a number of players in the top ten among active leaders in a variety of statistical categories, particularly between the arms of
Isabella Smith and
Sam Landry.
SEC STANDOUTS
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas and
Gabbie Garcia have really performed in SEC play, holding down the left side of the infield as well as the middle of the order. McEnroe-Marinas has homered eight times in league play, while scoring 17 runs, seven more than the next most on the OU squad. Garcia's defense isn't to be overlooked as she's made all 36 plays in the field during conference competition, while homering five times.
Kasidi Pickering is pacing the team with a .419 batting average in 12 SEC games.
PATIENT AT THE PLATE
Of the Sooners' 327 runs, Oklahoma has scored 96 runs via a walk or hit-by-pitch. Oklahoma has scored at least one run per game via a walk or hit by pitch in 36 of 41 games. The Sooners are fourth in the nation in walks with 208.

Of Oklahoma's 77 home runs, 42 have been hit by an OU newcomer or a Sooner in their first season. Additionally, six different Sooners have had a two-homer performance this year (

Cydney Sanders has played in the most games among active Sooners, logging 214 for her career and 140 for her time at Oklahoma. Sanders' 54 career homers features 33 during her time in Norman, two of which came in the same inning against St. Thomas April 3. She was the first Sooner to do so since
Alynah Torres homered twice in the same frame against UT Arlington March 20, 2024. Sanders is two walks away from 100 for her OU career.
