GOING, GOING, GABBIE!
Freshman infielder
Gabbie Garcia is currently on a OU season-best 13-game hitting streak. Garcia has homered seven times in her last 11 games, bringing her to a team-best nine home runs on the season. Between March 1 and March 9 she homered in five consecutive games, making her the first OU freshman since Jocelyn Alo to homer in five straight. March 11 she was named D1Softball Freshman of the Week as well as Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Week, becoming the first OU freshman to earn the honor in OU's young history in the SEC. Garcia homered at Tulsa March 12 and hit two out of the park in a 10-7 comeback win at No. 15/12 Arkansas Sunday. March 18 she was honored as SEC Player of the Week.
WHAT A WEEK
Sam Landry had four appearances last week and either picked up a win or a save in every outing. Landry went 2-0 with two saves, posting a 0.47 ERA and 15 strikeouts with just two walks over 15.2 innings worked. She posted a complete game shutout in a 7-0 win at No. 15/12 Arkansas, while closing the weekend with a save in OU's 10-7 victory Sunday.
DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK
Oklahoma came back to win in two of the Sooners' three victories at No. 15/12 Arkansas last weekend. Oklahoma currently has 10 comeback victories this season and is one of 13 teams in the nation to have double-digit comeback victories.
CYDNEY SLAMDERS
Cydney Sanders reached 200 games played over the weekend at Arkansas, 140 of which have come at Oklahoma. Her 51 career home runs also ranks fourth among all active DI softball players and her 137 walks are fourth-most among active DI players.
ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS
The Sooners have a number of players in the top ten among active leaders in a variety of statistical categories, particularly between the arms of
Isabella Smith and
Sam Landry.
STARS OF THE WEEK
Kasidi Pickering was named one of Softball America's Stars of the Week March 4. The outfielder homered four times, driving in 12.
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas joined her with the same honor March 11 after hitting a pair of three-run home runs in a 10-9 win against No. 10 South Carolina Sunday, March 9. Righty pitcher
Sam Landry joined them both with the same honor March 18 after going 2-0 with two saves, 15 strikeouts and a 0.47 ERA over four appearances.
PATIENT AT THE PLATE
Of the Sooners' 236 runs, Oklahoma has scored 76 runs via a walk or hit-by-pitch. Oklahoma has scored at least one run per game via a walk or hit by pitch in 26 of 27 games. The Sooners are first in the nation in walks with 160.
FULLY STAFFED
The OU pitching staff has been balanced from the jump this season. All five Sooners that have logged innings have turned in a sub-2.53 ERA. Four pitchers have tallied at least 30 innings in the circle, while the staff has combined to strike out 177 batters and only walk 38.
Kierston Deal,
Sam Landry,
Audrey Lowry and
Isabella Smith all have at least five wins, with Smith and Landry pacing the staff at 7-0.
NEW BATS, SAME RESULTS
Of Oklahoma's 54 home runs, 33 have been hit by an OU newcomer or a Sooner in their first season on the field.
Isabela Emerling and
Gabbie Garcia are tied for the lead in home runs among newcomers (7). Classmate

Oklahoma opened up with a five-run first inning in game one against South Carolina Sunday, March 9.
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas,
Gabbie Garcia and
Cydney Sanders launched back-to-back-to-back homers in that inning, completing the feat for the first time since Grace Lyons,
Alyssa Brito and
Kinzie Hansen did so April of 2023 against Kansas.
WON-RUN GAMES
Oklahoma entered SEC play not having played a one-run game all year. The Sooners finished with three one-run wins after the series with South Carolina, making it the first time in program history that OU has won three straight one-run games against a ranked opponent.
It was also the first time since 2017 that OU won three consecutive one-run games (last achieved in wins against Evansville, WKU and Tulsa that season). Additionally, the Sooners won back-to-back 10-9 decisions for the first time in program history.
WOAH NELLY!
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas has started off SEC play on fire, hitting four home runs through the first six games. She launched two more at Arkansas, including a go-ahead three-run homer in Sunday's finale. In SEC-opening weekend she hit two three-run home runs in the same game to help defeat South Carolina, 10-9, March 9. She is the first Sooner to hit a pair of three-run homers in the same game since Lynnsie Elam did so against Iowa March 20, 2022.
