Paytn Monticelli combined for a no-hitter and
Gabbie Garcia went 3-for-3 to continue her hitting streak as No. 1 Oklahoma Softball (27-0) battled the wind and defeated East Texas A&M (7-22), 8-0, Wednesday, March 19.
The Sooners' win came on the 50th anniversary of OU Softball's first ever game, which was a 3-1 win against Oklahoma Baptist March 19, 1975. OU honored a number of alumnae, while Mary Williams threw out the first pitch in celebration of her being the first Sooner to throw a pitch in an official game 50 years ago to the day.

Oklahoma tallied three runs in the first inning, with Garcia and
Sydney Barker lacing RBI singles.
Ailana Agbayani made it 3-0 after putting down a squeeze bunt to score Barker.
After Smith fanned two more in a scoreless second frame, Oklahoma added another run thanks to a bases loaded walk from Agbayani.
Deal retired all three batters she faced, using eight pitches in a scoreless third. Oklahoma scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning to line up the run-rule win. The Sooners used two hits, two walks and a fielding error from East Texas A&M to make it 8-0.
Nelly McEnroe-Marinas doubled in a run, Garcia plated another with a single and two scored on a mishandled fly ball in center.
Monticelli struck out two in a hitless fourth and fifth inning to complete the no-hitter.
