Emerling Homers and Doubles, Sooners Improve to 12-0

NORMANSam Landry impressed in her home debut as a member of the Oklahoma Sooners, fanning 10 in 5.2 innings of work as OU dispatched Wichita State 8-1 Sunday, Feb. 23.

OU (12-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning. Abigale Dayton and Ella Parker walked and a passed ball moved them up a base. Kasidi Pickering flared an RBI single to shallow left, scoring Dayton before Parker scored on a double steal and throwing error on the play. Two batters later, Pickering came around on a Wichita State passed ball.

Isabela Emerling added another run with one swing, homering to center to make it 4-0 Sooners in the second. In the top of the third, Landry worked around a lead-off double by striking out the side.

The Sooners put up another crooked number in the fourth. Tia Milloy started off the frame with a single to left, stole second and scored on a Nelly McEnroe-Marinas single that landed on the right-field line. Emerling stayed hot, doubling off the top of the wall in right to make it 6-0.

Wichita State (7-5) got on the board in the fifth with a solo home run, but OU replied by plating two in the bottom half. Sanders worked a walk and pinch runner Chaney Helton eventually scored on an Ailana Agbayani single. Milloy completed the scoring after hooking an RBI double inside first base.

Audrey Lowry closed the game with 1.1 scoreless innings out of the pen.
